LIVING WITH KIDS AND DOGS...WITHOUT LOSING YOUR MIND
By Colleen Pelar, CPDT
This book is a must read for any family with dogs and kids or for any family that intends to live with kids and dogs! This is not a parenting book that tells you to control your dog, or a dog training book that tells you to conttrol your kids. The author gives realistic, helpful tips and suggestions for helping your children and dogs live together and it takes you through every stage-from pregnancy to teenagers. In addition to information about the day to day aspects of living with kids and dogs the book also gives helpful information about selecting a family dog (when and how), as well as how to address problem behaviors with your dogs and how to teach your children to interact with dogs. |

DOGS BITE: BUT BALLOONS AND SLIPPERS ARE MORE DANGEROUS
By Janis Bradley
Although the title seems a little silly this book addresses a serious topic: the "danger" that dogs present to humans. This book gives wonderful statistics about the true danger of dogs, and many other things that are present in our lives on a day to day basis-including balloons and slippers (by the way did you know that more people die every year from choking on balloons and tripping in slippers than from dog attacks?) This book talks about many legal issues, current research on dog bites, breed banning (which neither the author or Both Ends of the Leash supports), simple tips for avoiding dog bites, and more. It is a very intereresting read. |

CALMING SIGNALS: WHAT YOUR DOG TELLS YOU DVD
(DVD)
By Turid Rugaas
This DVD has wonderful footage of calming signals and how dogs use them. Calming Signals is a wonderful source of information about dogs and their body language. It even gives advice about how to use your body language to "talk back" to your dog. The DVD is not filmed professionally, and at times the sound quality is very quiet, but overall the footage is excellent. This DVD is a wonderful source of information for all dog owners.
